Safety First

Welcome to Meadow Lark!

Meadow Lark Transport expects its Owner Operators to abide by the rules and regulations as outlined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations Handbook. All drivers receive these regulations when leasing on, along with other tools to help them succeed and keep our roads safe. The safety department is available 24/7 to help answer any questions or concerns a driver may have.

In review of our safety scores Meadow Lark has spent considerable time investigating each violation to determine the root cause so we could develop an aggressive action plan to reduce our safety scores and improve the overall performance of our drivers.

Outlined below you will find the actions and requirements we have implemented to address the alerts.

Hours of Service

  • Requiring Electronic on Board Recorders (EOBR’s) Omni Tracs Units for all contractors leased to us.
  • We have recently partnered with Vertical Alliance Group and are using their Infinit-I platform training requiring all new hires to complete prior to their first load along with continued on-going training.
  • Monthly compliance calls to drivers to discuss violations, email to driver and agent responsible for loading truck so all parties involved understand what is expected.
  • Terminate repeat offenders if improvement is not made after counseling and training efforts.

Vehicle Maintenance

  • All new hires are required to have a new annual inspection when they lease onto us.
  • Within the first 45 days, new hires are routed to an approved site location to validate their equipment is in proper working order.
  • We require a new annual inspection quarterly.
  • Any driver cited for vehicle maintenance violations is required to have a new annual inspection or proof of repairs.
  • We have recently partnered with Vertical Alliance Group and are using their Infinit-I platform training requiring all new hires to complete prior to their first load along with continued on-going training.
  • We have a safety incentive for drivers that summit a clean inspection and also a penalty for violations.

If contractors receive violations in the areas listed below and choose to challenge the violations in court, contractors must obtain a verdict of “Dismissed with Prejudice” or be exonerated with a verdict of “Not Guilty”. Once this has been accomplished, Meadow Lark Transport, Inc. will challenge the violation through the Data Qs process. If successful, the contractor will be retained by Meadow Lark Transport, Inc.

Contractors lease will be terminated for citations or violations noted on roadside Inspections for violations of the following Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).

A second violation of these regulations within two years of the first violation can result in the termination of the contractor’s contract.

A company safety inspector can conduct random inspections, checking for load securement, vehicle maintenance and fatigued driving. Unsafe and non-compliant behaviors will be scored and added to the contractor’s CSA scores just as if the points were assessed in a roadside inspection.

Meadow Lark Transport, Inc. continues to make great efforts to reduce our CSA scores. We have added knowledgeable staff with many years’ experience in the transportation industry. With these tools put in place, Meadow Lark Transport is confident we can reduce our violations and lower our CSA scores.
